Scope and Contents

A work intended as a universal history from the earliest times to the French Revolution, but which, from the 11th century onwards, is confined to the history of France. The text begins (folio 28) with a description of the work and material on the planetary system and world geography. It is preceded by geographical and chronological tables (folio 2). The work was compiled while Henry (1773-1820), a French army officer, was a prisoner of war near Jedburgh.

Scope and Contents Under each plant, there is a brief note about its habitat, but most of the entry concerns its medicinal uses. The text is followed (folio 215) by an appendix, indices of names in Latin and French, and an index of diseases. Folios 272-279 contain miscellaneous medical recipes, some of which have been written on loose sheets of paper and inserted.The inscription `J.B.M. Guidi scripsit anno 1757 et 1758` occurs on folio 271 verso, and the title-page (folio 1) bears his initials and...

Scope and Contents The contents of the volume are as follows:(i) Printed prospectus of the Sanitary Protection Association of Edinburgh, late 19th century. (Folio 1.)(ii) Printed list of members, with subscriptions, of the Royal Society of Northern Antiquaries (Konungliga Norraena Fornfraeda-Felag), 1849, in Icelandic. There are also an extract from the constitution of the Society (in French), a note on the subscriptions (in Danish), and a list of the books published by the Society....

Scope and Contents Photographs, letter and army papers of Robert Titilah, 1897-1991, relating to his service with the 1st Parachute Regiment during the Second World War, particularly his internment as a Prisoner of War at Stalag IVB, Muhlberg, Germany.The papers include Titilah`s `Soldier`s Release Book`, which indicates that he enlisted in April 1942. He apparently enlisted on a whim after he had been drinking with a friend, and a studio portrait captures the men together shortly after this event....
